Here are 7 ways you can make most of your present from the philosophy of Albert Camus
01. Have a motivation for living
02. Be yourself at all times
03. Live intensively
04. Live like a rebel
05. Focus on practical things
06. Accept the unpredictability of life
07. Find happiness in every phase of your life
We have three authentic responses to the meaningless of the universe
Suicide - physical escape - death
Faith - mental escape - philosophical suicide
Rebelion - live in freedom - in constant rebellion against absurdism; against the status quo, the established order, and all of this world's expectations of conformity.
The human tragedy: our great innate desire and drive for meaning in juxtaposition with the stark, dark, cold, silence of the universe.
I finally had to admit that the god I created and worshiped has two verifiable attributes: silence and invisibility. This very SILENCE AND INVISIBILITY screams across the universe into the collective human face as the only "answer" we will receive to the human outcry for meaning and purpose.
We must create our own meaning.
Shall I kill myself or have a cup of coffee?
We must discover or create our own meaning, our motivation for living. (freedom and meaning)
Be yourself at all times. "Man is the only creature that refuses to be as he is." We must rebel against the norms and patterns of this world.
Live intensively. "Live to the point of tears." In direct rebellion against the meaningless of the universe. We must stand and fight for issues and causes that are greater than me.
Live like a rebel. "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion." We must never take for granted the freedom we have. It was gained by our ancestors fighting for it. "Free people must live in a permanent state of revolution." If they are not, if they are losing sight of that revolutionary state, they'll start building up walls and prisons around them. "There is nothing more despicable than respect based on fear."
Focus on practical things. "I only have a little time left. I don't want to waste it on god."
Accept the unpredictability of life. "You can't create experience, you undergo it."
Find happiness in every phase of your life. "Autumn is the second spring when every leaf is a flower." Life does not distinguish between those who pursue a bad path and those that pursue a good path. Life is equally cruel to the innocent and to the criminal. No matter how moral we are, how worthy we are, life will carry us all toward destruction and death.
